FAQS
Guide to playing your first game
- Once you are entered into a division by one of our staff, login to your Member Area and check your opponents' Gamertag.
- Contact your opponent via the Stryxa Member Area Messaging System, add them as a friend on your console and arrange to meet online at your agreed kick off time using our Chat or Messaging system.
- Once your match is finished, login to your Member Area again and report the final score. You can also report any problems or issues with your match. BOTH players must confirm the match score.
- That’s it, we will update your division within 24 hours and you can then focus on your next match.
- IMPORTANT: How do I play a game online?
- ALL MATCHES MUST BE RANKED 6 MINS (unless BOTH players agree to another match format such as 'Be a Pro' or 'Unranked').
LIVE SEASON MUST BE TURNED OFF IF YOU HAVE THIS SERVICE. To turn off Live Season, follow instructions below on the game menu:
MY FIFA 10-->GAME SETTINGS-->CLICK LT/L1 ONCE-->TURN BOTH OPTIONS FOR LIVE SEASON 2.0 OFF
If the players in your opponents' team list before the game starts have red or green arrows next to them, then the player has Live Season ON, quit the match before it starts and let your opponent know he should turn it off.
There are a number of ways to meet your opponent online and play a ranked match, but follow the instructions below for the most straightforward option:
Note: The team on the LEFT of the fixture list on our website is the Home Team and should invite the other player into the game, however ultimately both players are responsible for contacting each other, if your opponent does not add you then you should try to add them instead.
1. Find out your opponents' gamertag by logging into your Member Area and clicking on 'more info' next to their team name on the league table.
2. On the FIFA game, add your opponent as a 'friend' using their gamertag.
3. Once your opponent is confirmed as a friend, go into the 'VIEW PLAYER HUB' section on the FIFA Menu. (Select MY FIFA 10 ONLINE, then VIEW PLAYER HUB)
4. Once in your Player Hub, hold down the 'LT/L1' button and scroll down to your address book. Select your opponent from your address book.
5. Invite your oppponent to play and in the settings select 'RANKED' match.
6. Choose your team and you are ready to play your game!
- IMPORTANT: How do I arrange my matches?
- The key is COMMUNICATION with your opponent and we have two options on our site.
STRYXA MEMBER AREA MESSAGING SYSTEM
You should message your opponent via your Stryxa Member Area in advance of the match to arrange a suitable time to play. If you message your opponent via the Stryxa Member Area, these messages are saved and recorded by us so there can be no confusion over which player has not communicated properly in the event of a 'no show'. PLEASE ENSURE YOU CONTACT YOUR OPPONENT THROUGH THE MEMBER AREA, SIMPLY CLICK ON HIS TEAM NAME AND HIT THE 'MESSAGE ME' ICON TO SEND A MESSAGE.
STRYXA LIVE CHAT
You can access the Live Chat system before matches to meet up with your opponent and to resolve any connection issues quickly.
FIFA 10 Leagues can be played at any time on your chosen day of matches, you simply need to communicate with your opponent to arrange a kick off time suitable for both of you. However, if you cannot agree a kick off time then the default kick off time is 10pm.
- IMPORTANT: When do scores get updated?
- After your match has finished, you should enter your score via your Member Area immediately.
BOTH players must confirm the score and it then automatically updates the league table. If a player does not confirm his score within 24 hours, the league table will automatically update with the score recorded by his opponent.
If you enter your score and the league table has not updated straight away, this means your opponent has not confirmed the score. Your opponent has 24 hours to confirm before your score is automatically recorded, so league tables are ALWAYS up to date within 24 hours. If your league is a Monday for example, then your division table will be fully updated by 10pm on the Tuesday.
- Can I join if I live outside of the UK?
- Yes. Stryxa FIFA 10 Leagues are INTERNATIONAL and open to everyone.
All matches will be played in the GMT(0) time zone (UK). All payments must be made in GBP £.
- How do I join the leagues?
- It couldn’t be simpler. Just register on the website by filling out your contact details, you will then be able to log into your Member Area. You can enter cup competitions immediately and you will be registered to enter the next league season starting. You can find out when the next league season starts on our homepage.
- How do I log into my Members' Area?
- On the top left of our homepage, there is a tab saying 'MEMBER LOGIN'. Simply click this tab.
Enter your email address and password (if you have forgotten your password, click the '?' link and you will be emailed confirmation).
Once you have entered your details, you will be automatically taken to your Member Area where you can check your opponents' Gamertag, modify your own Gamertag and details, view fixtures and league tables, enter results, give feedback and much more.
- Can I enter leagues on more than one day?
- No, you can only play in the leagues on one day. So if you choose Monday, you must play in the Monday league for that season.
You can change days at the end of a season, but this may result in you dropping down divisions. The idea is to stay on the same day and work your way up to the top divisions.
We have Cup competitions almost every day of the week, so if you want to play every day you can!
- Can I arrange when I want to play?
- Yes, users can agree a suitable kick off time prior to the match. However, if users cannot agree a kick off time which is suitable for both players, the default kick off is always 10pm, so if you cannot agree a time then you MUST be ready to play at 10pm.
You must meet your opponent online within 15 minutes of your agreed kick off time or you will forfeit the match 3-0.
If you cannot make a fixture and would like to rearrange, you must do this via the STRYXA MEMBER AREA by messaging your opponent.
- What do I do if I cannot make a fixture?
- If you cannot make a fixture due to being away or unavailable, you have the option of selecting 'cancel' in your Members Area for up to 3 weeks in advance. By cancelling the match, you forfeit the game 3-0, however you do not get deducted any points for a 'no show' as you have let us know by cancelling. Your opponent will receive a message letting them know that you have cancelled the match so that they do not wait around for you online at the time of your fixture.
If you miss a match and do not select 'cancel' next to the fixture in your Members Area, you will be deducted -1 point.
- How many divisions are there?
- We have unlimited divisions for each day of the week. i.e. We will have a Monday Superleague, Premiership, Championship, League 1, League 2 and so on. This will be the same for every day of the week.
- How many teams are in each division and how long do seasons last?
- There are 6 teams in each division. Teams will play each other ONCE during each mini season. You play one match per week so each mini season will last 5 weeks. Obviously if you enter more than one day then you will have more than one match per week, but you will only play one game on any single day of the week.
- Is there promotion/relegation?
- Yes, there are 6 teams in each division and at the end of every mini season the top 3 teams will be promoted and the bottom 3 will be relegated. This makes every match vital as it could mean the difference between promotion or the dreaded relegation! This will allow teams to move through the divisions quickly so that everyone finds their gaming level within a couple of seasons to ensure you are playing against people of the same ability.
- Do we play extra time and penalties?
- For league matches and cup group matches, the final score is that after 90 MINUTES. If the game ends 2-2 at 90 minutes, that is the score you MUST register on our results system.
If you would like to play extra time and penalties against your opponent that's fine, but it's just for fun, it DOES NOT count towards the final score of the game.
For cup knockout matches, extra time and penalties should be played in the event of a draw.
- I can't add my opponent because his Gamertag is wrong, what do I do?
- If you experience problems adding your opponent as a friend, it may be because his Gamertag is wrong.
Contact your opponent using the mesaging system in your Stryxa website Member Area, ask your opponent to update/confirm his correct Gamertag or to add you instead.
The main thing is, COMMUNICATE. Any problems can be resolved as long as players get in touch with each other.
- Why can't I connect to my opponent?
- The process for connecting to your opponent online is very simple and usually works with no problems, however the technical details below will hopefully help you to connect if you do experience issues.
If you are running behind a FIREWALL, ensure it is set to allow the game to communicate on these ports both inbound and outbound.
TCP Ports: 80, 443, 9980-9989, 14500-14559, 42100
UDP Ports: 9570, 3659, 6000
If you are running behind a ROUTER then forward all data on ports: UDP 3659 and UDP 6000.
If you have problems connecting through the RANKED mode online, you can connect via another game type but both players MUST agree to this before the match kicks off.
- What happens if my opponent does not meet online for our match?
- Both players must meet online within 15 minutes of the agreed kick off time. i.e. If you agree an 8pm kick off for your Monday league match, both players must meet BEFORE 8.15pm to start their match. If any player is not ready to play within 15 minutes of the kick off time, the opponent will receive a walkover 3-0 victory. Simply select 'no show' in your results section in the Members Area.
Make sure you know your opponents' gamertag BEFORE you meet online to play, you can find out your opponents' gamertag via your Members Area.
COMMUNICATE. If your opponent is the HOST/HOME team and does not add you, try to add them instead, do not just give up and claim the walkover, BOTH players are responsible for contacting each other to arrange the game.
- Are there prizes for divisional winners and the overall champion?
- DIVISIONAL WINNERS
The winner of the top two divisions (Superleague and Premiership) for each 5 week season will receive a top quality individual trophy.
Our Stryxa Elite system works out the top 50 players at the end of every 20 weeks. Every 20 weeks we will hold the Stryxa International Championships for the top 50 Xbox and PS3 players, the winner will receive a share of the £25,000 prize fund along with fantastic prizes from our partners and sponsors (see the '£25,000 Prize Fund' news post to check out the full list of prizes).
We also have regular Cup competitions, including Champions League, Europa League, Xmas Cup, Summer Cup, Sunday & Wednesday Weekly Cups and other one off tournaments. Large cash prizes will be awarded for the four major Cup competitions, with further cash prizes, trophies and awards for extra weekly and monthly cup competitions.
- Is there a warning system in place?
- We operate a simple 'two strikes' policy.
If you miss a match or do not turn up without informing us or your opponent, a 'strike' will be registered on your account. If you have a further 'strike' entered onto your account, it is deactivated immediately and you are removed from the leagues. If your account is deactivated, your email address and personal contact details are registered on our 'banned' list and you will be unable to register again. If your account is deactivated and you would like to appeal this, please contact us by email info@stryxa.com.
There are thousands of people taking part in the leagues and we will not tolerate time wasters. This is something we take extremely seriously.
- What if I want to pull out of a division?
- If you are no longer able to fulfil fixtures in any of the divisions you are playing in, you MUST let us know immediately.
Once you let us know, we can remove your team from the league and your opponents will get a 3-0 win for the remaining fixtures. Please be aware, if you pull out of a division you WILL NOT be able to join another division until the next season.
- What happens if a team pulls out of my division?
- All fixtures for the season will be awarded as 0-3 against the team who pulls out of the division.
- What is the Fair Play system?
- Our Fair Play system operates behind the scenes on the website. Every time your team turn up on time and correctly play a fixture, you receive points on our Fair Play table. If you do not turn up for a match or receive negative feedback from opponents, you will receive minus points on the Fair Play table.
Players with the highest Fair Play points will be able to access extra benefits and competitions through their Member Area as the site develops.
- Is there a membership fee/cost to take part?
- The Ladder System is FREE to take part in, this is just for fun and there are no cash prizes available for the Standard Membership option.
Members pay £2.50 per month via Paypal subscription for Premium Membership and access to the league and cup competitions with trophies and cash prizes on offer.
- How do I prevent lagging/disconnections?
- You cannot completely prevent this from happening, however you can take steps to ensure any disruption to your matches online is minimised by doing the following:
- Make sure you have no spy-ware on your computer and have an up to date antivirus package.
- Do not download or upload anything whilst playing your match.
- Close ALL applications that you are not using.
- Try to ensure you are using a WIRED rather than Wireless connection.
